About Us
Lafarge Pipeline, previously known as Permanent Lafarge has been in the concrete business since 1953 and in the weight business since 1957. Lafarge has produced weights for various owners from coast to coast in Canada and the United States.
Lafarge has the capability of supplying "on-site" concrete plants for producing weights or concrete for projects, large or small, summer or winter.
Lafarge manufactures weights for pipe up to 56 inches in diameter. With over 500 steel forms readily available we will transport the steel forms and a portable batch plant (complete with power source and concrete heating system) to the actual job site. Equipment can normally be set up for operation within hours. This method of manufacturing weights on site means we can produce weights quickly and economically, to facilitate pipeline construction.
Trans Canada Pipelines with whom we have a current purchasing agreement in place already approve our weights and pipe coating.

Why use Pipeline Weights?
Weights are used anytime that pipe floatation could occur. Some examples of common conditions are:
* Pipelines in an area with high water table.
* Flooding to consolidate backfill
*Pipelines in areas which will be inundated, such as a flood plain or under a future manmade lake.
The buoyancy of buried pipelines depend on the weight of the pipe material, the weight of the volume of water displaced by the pipe, the weight of the liquid load carried by the pipe, and the weight of the backfill material.
Whenever the water table level is above the pipeline the potential for floatation or buoyancy exists. The addition of Pipeline weights offsets this floatation potential.
